Bečarević Demands Contract Investigation: Where Did 4.6 Million KM Go?

(Patria) – President of the Cantonal Council of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Almir Bečarević, has requested from the Government of Sarajevo Canton to provide the public with detailed information on the implementation of the contract for the construction and equipping of tram stops for controlled fare collection and the introduction of an electronic payment system.

He reacted after the Government of Sarajevo Canton adopted a decision to give consent to the Agreement on the termination of the contract for the first phase of works, stating that the public has not been provided with the text of the agreement nor the previously concluded contracts related to this project.

Bečarević recalls that the framework agreement was signed in 2018 with a value of 12.165 million KM, while the first phase amounted to 7.115 million KM. According to his claims, the contractors, companies BS Telekom Solutions and Euroasfalt, were paid a total of 4.6 million KM, and within the project, tram stops in Otoka and Nedžarići were reconstructed.

"The question arises as to what exactly was done for 4.6 million KM and why the contract ends after six years," states Bečarević, demanding a detailed report on the executed works, the role of supervision, and any responsibility for the non-implementation of the contract.

From the Government of Sarajevo Canton, he also requested an overview of investments in the public transport management center, the electronic fare collection system, and equipment for improving safety in public transport vehicles.

Bečarević also called on the Office for the Fight against Corruption of Sarajevo Canton to investigate the circumstances under which the contract ceased to be valid, who approved the executed works, and why the project was not completed within the planned timeframe.

"The public must be informed of all details of the contract, the framework agreement, and the agreement on the termination of the contract, especially considering that these are millions of KM of public money," Bečarević stated.
