(Patria) - All profits from the increase in electricity prices for households and other consumption in FBiH go to hiring 450 new workers at Elektroprivreda (EP) BiH, energy expert and former minister in the KS Government Almir Bečarević told Nezavisne novine.
Bečarević points out that this was not done to improve the energy system, but to enable hiring according to EP BiH's plan for the next three years.
- When you calculate it, this entire price increase will go towards the salaries of 450 new workers, so there is no talk of improving the system here, but they need it for their internal needs. It is enough to look at EP BiH's business plan where hiring is planned until 2026 - says Bečarević.
He points out that this is an expected political decision, and that the request, which is very important for all consumers, was considered for only a few minutes.
- What is also very important is that EP BiH, in accordance with the new Law on Electricity, does not have a license to be a public electricity supplier at all, because the Government of FBiH did not adhere to the legal deadline of nine months to regulate this.
The new law states that nine months after its entry into force, the Government of FBiH must designate a public supplier, and it has not been designated. Elektroprivreda has an old license that refers to two laws that have ceased to be valid.
Secondly, this increase is not 10 percent, but will be over 12 percent, but who cares about that now. The rush was to accommodate EP BiH as quickly as possible and to increase electricity prices.
The biggest problem now is that FERK has been given enormous powers and now has the ability to trade through this institution. They are now the regulator for electricity, oil, natural gas, thermal energy, and other things in the entire FBiH.
The possibilities for trading through FERK are unprecedented, and this price increase is the best proof of that - claims Bečarević.
