Bečarević invited Sattler to a meeting with the opposition in KS: We would also have something to say

(Patria) - The president of the Cantonal Board of the Party for BiH Sarajevo, Almir Bečarević, sent an open letter to the Special Representative and Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Johann Sattler.

In the letter, Bečarević reminds that Sattler visited the Tuzla Canton yesterday, and on that occasion, according to media reports, asked the meeting hosts: "Where is the opposition?".

"Mr. Sattler, the opposition in Sarajevo is located directly across from the headquarters of the EU institutions, more precisely at Reisa Džemaludina Čauševića Street 2/1, 71000 Sarajevo.

By the way, Reis Čaušević was a theologian, thinker, enlightener, reformer, journalist, translator, and linguist. He was one of the most significant and influential Bosniak personalities of the 20th century.

Why am I sending you this open letter?

Firstly, the fact that the headquarters of the Cantonal Board and the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina is on Reis Čaušević Street should not be an obstacle for you to also ask in Sarajevo: 'Where is the opposition?'.

On June 12, 2023, you held a meeting with representatives of the legislative and executive authorities in Sarajevo Canton, and at that meeting, representatives of Our Party and NiP were present.

Admittedly, at that time SBiH was part of the government in KS, but we were not included in the meeting, nor were we the opposition - whom you are now so enthusiastically calling for in Tuzla Canton.

I understand that you do not 'like' the opposition in Sarajevo Canton, but you appreciate the opposition in Tuzla Canton, and such an approach is a reflection of all the events in which you clearly have a selective approach towards parties in power and in opposition.

Now that SBiH is in opposition in KS, we wish that even when we were in power, as well as now, we could have chatted or talked with you and explained what it is like to be both in power and in opposition in KS.

When you are in power, but not a favorite of the institution you represent, then you only serve as an ikebana for raising hands for those you so enthusiastically call for in TK and those you visit in KS.

When you point out illegalities, they do everything to remove you from power, and then they put you in the line of those who, when you ask for something as the opposition, have their microphones turned off in the KS Assembly.

In KS, the government serves to practice strictness towards the opposition, and you are calling for that opposition in TK to stifle the current government with the same methods, because what is evident to you in Sarajevo does not bother you there.

In KS, you can have directors who forge their work experience, who pay fines with state money, who misuse budget funds, who hire people from 'nowhere' or those who turn off microphones when you say what the beloved government doesn't like, when you distribute money to your associations, when you destroy forests for construction, or turn the city into Harlem, only here there will never be Globetrotters.

As we witness, anything is possible in Sarajevo Canton, because the government is your favorite, and when you look at what they are doing, you put on a blindfold and don't see that they didn't bring the opposition to the meeting, but in TK, by some miracle, you see that it's missing.

At the end of this short and modest letter, I invite you to also request a meeting with the opposition in KS, because we would also have something to say.

The meeting can also be held in the premises of the EU institutions, it doesn't matter to us, because we want to talk about the real situation in KS from the perspective of the opposition, and the venue is not important to us, nor the street it is located on.

Given that your role in BiH is to 'provide advice and support in the political process to institutions at all levels, with the aim of ensuring greater consistency and coherence of all political, economic and European priorities - especially in the domain of the rule of law and security sector reform', I am convinced that you will accept this opposition proposal", Bečarević stated in the letter.
