Bečarević: I might be the only minister who stays in this government

(Patria) - Nihad Uk resigned yesterday as Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton (KS), initiating the process of reconstructing the KS Government, which has been announced for months. Two ministers from the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina will be replaced, and this party is moving into opposition in Sarajevo Canton. Almir Bečarević, Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton, spoke about this topic on BHT1 uživo.

"I might be the only minister who stays in this government, we'll see next week," said Bečarević.

He emphasized that his approach to work has always been public and transparent, and stated that it is difficult to expect any changes until the government effectively manages all processes.

He touched upon the talks about dismissing ministers from the Party for BiH, saying he doesn't understand what they did wrong.

"I don't know what we did wrong. I can't believe what they're saying, Uk himself said that we are doing our job professionally. The problem lies with the hands of people who manage the government from the outside. Elmedin Konaković started to overthrow it on the 15th day, everyone knows that, but no one wants to say it," said Bečarević.

According to him, the key problem is corruption.

"We signed a coalition agreement and took an oath to implement certain policies, primarily the fight against corruption. If in Sarajevo Canton, almost all executive directors are under investigation, is that a normal environment in which we should work? I didn't do that, someone else did, and when you say that, you become a nuisance," Bečarević points out.

He claims that Konaković appointed most of these people and that he should bear responsibility for it.

"I would like to tell him to his face all the threats he made to me as a minister, for example, sending messages from Brussels that as soon as he lands from the plane, he will first remove me from the Government of Sarajevo Canton," says Bečarević.

He adds that the appointed personnel do not deserve to be there.

"We have reached a paradoxical situation in Sarajevo Canton. Since September 27th, we have no director of the public utility company Rad, there is no one. When the Supervisory Board president was to be appointed, the acting director fled the session because a request came from the Prosecutor's Office for the exclusion of huge documentation. And when you say that publicly, you become a nuisance," said Bečarević.

Regarding the new ministers, Bečarević said he has information that the candidate could be from Zenica.

"I really don't know if someone from Sarajevo became a minister in the Government of the Una-Sana Canton. Cantonal governments are a local matter, you have to be there to solve problems in that canton. This is illogical," Bečarević points out.

"On the fifteenth day of this government, I asked if the government governs or if directors govern the government. And I never got an answer. Everything stopped there. They can threaten, spew all sorts of 'filth'. Everything is in the Prosecutor's Office. As far as I'm concerned, I will give every citizen who comes everything I have signed in the Ministry. If anywhere I have favored anyone, if I have done anything... We wanted to improve the situation in Sarajevo Canton and we really dedicated ourselves to it. They have a problem with me, but not within the government. An external force has constantly tripped us up, it has tripped up the prime minister too, it wasn't easy for him either," says Bečarević.

Nihad Uk stated that he has guarantees that he will be the new mandatary. Bečarević believes there will be problems with that too.

"Your credibility in the public falls, if you resigned, you resigned. The Rules of Procedure of the Assembly state that when someone resigns, after the Assembly dismisses them, it has the right to initiate criminal liability proceedings. That's what it says, I didn't invent it. They will have problems with that too because they rushed headlong and used force. We were even prepared to be dismissed, and then they asked us on what basis they would dismiss us," said Bečarević.
