Bečarević: Energoinvest systematically robs citizens of Sarajevo Canton

(Patria) - Minister of Public Utilities, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton (KS) Almir Bečarević reminded today that in the previous period he had pointed out that the price of gas has an unrealistic value, i.e., that Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo is achieving an enormous margin on the price of gas.

"Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo achieved a margin on the price of gas in the amount of 15 million KM in the first six months of 2023, while the profit for the first six months amounts to 8,711,472 KM.

In the previous year, for the first six months, Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo achieved a profit in the amount of 596,431.00 KM.

When we take the margin in price that Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo achieved during 2022 and for the first six months of this year, we get a price margin of 35 million KM.

When we add to this the margin on the price of gas that Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo will achieve in the next six months of this year, we come to the fact that Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo will achieve a total margin on the price of gas in the amount of 48 million KM over two years, and the estimated profit for 2023, without financial acrobatics, will amount to approximately 15 million KM.

To be completely precise: with a margin on the price of gas of 48 million KM, natural gas can be supplied to 30,000 households in Sarajevo Canton without them paying a single convertible mark for the supplied natural gas.

This is a systematic robbery carried out against the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, i.e., users of natural gas, because Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo, apart from gas operations, has almost no other significant income, and out of 118 million total revenue of Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo, it achieves only 12 million KM on the foreign market, which is only 10% of total revenue, while 90% of revenue comes from natural gas.

This ministry persistently tries to explain that we will have problems with polluted air in the winter months and that currently the only solution is natural gas. But gas at a reasonable price, not at these prices at which Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo sells natural gas to its customers.

This ministry understands that Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo has problems in its operations, but it does not understand that all holders of power silently watch this robbery because the income statement of Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo can be found on the internet.

Finally, this ministry and this minister call on all responsible and competent parties to stop this incredible robbery of citizens and the plunder carried out by Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo, because the margin in price and the achieved profit absolutely speak to that.

The income statement cannot be manipulated, nor can revenues or expenses, nor the achieved profit," stated Minister Bečarević.
