Bayer Leverkusen footballers defeated Atletico Madrid 1:0 at home last night in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The only goal of the match was scored by Hakan Çalhanoğlu in the 57th minute, reports the Patria news agency.
Monaco surprised Arsenal 3:1 in London.
In earlier round of 16 matches, Barcelona defeated Manchester City 2:1 (2:0) away, while Juventus beat Borussia Dortmund by the same score.
Real Madrid won 2:0 away at Schalke, Basel and Porto, as well as Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea drew 1:1, while the only match without goals was between Shakhtar and Bayern Munich.
The return legs of the round of 16 will be played on March 10, 11, 17 and 18.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for April 14 and 15, and April 21 and 22, the semi-finals on May 5 and 6, and May 12 and 13, while the final will be played on June 6 at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
