Basiner: EU would accept, de facto, a third entity in BiH!

I don't believe that the new arrival of Commissioner Štefan Füle will bring anything new to Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated Kurt Basiner, an American analyst from the Center for Democratization Policy, for "Dnevni avaz", commenting on the new diplomatic offensive from Brussels.

- Füle is actually coming for a new meeting with leaders who have been humiliating the European Union for a long time. I don't see any chance for progress, regardless of the fact that everything is happening while citizens' protests are ongoing. Because they are not seeking a solution to the Sejdić-Finci ruling, but accountability from politicians and responsible policies – warns Basiner.

According to him, by coming to talks with the same political factors, Füle has shown that he does not stand behind his words that "he has heard the voice of the people", because, as Basiner says, if he had heard it, he would not be talking again with those against whom people are protesting, whether they are in power or in opposition.

Basiner also, commenting on opinions that some EU countries are ready to pressure Bosniak politicians to accept the option of a third entity as a solution to the Sejdić-Finci ruling, says that the EU has shown readiness to accept the option of a third electoral unit.

- The EU is looking for any solution and it is certain that today they will return to what has already been on the table. Perhaps formally they would not accept a third entity, but they would accept a third electoral unit, which is then just another name for a de facto third part of the country – states Basiner.
