Bašić after success in Sofia: This is the best Sunday of my career

SOFIA, (Patria) - Bosnian-Herzegovinian tennis player Mirza Bašić has won his first ATP title in his career.

The twenty-six-year-old from Sarajevo defeated Romanian tennis player Marius Copil in the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Bulgaria, specifically in Sofia, with a score of 2:1 in sets after two hours and 20 minutes of play. Like Bašić, his opponent was also in his first final, and over 40,000 people followed the play of this tournament.

Bašić won 90,000 euros.

After this great success in Sofia, Bašić said he wanted to thank everyone who followed the match.

- I hope you enjoyed this match. Thank you to my family, brother and coach for cheering me on. Thank you to Copil for a fair match, as well as the referees and sponsors without whom it would not have been possible to hold such a tournament. This was my first final, I had a bit of luck, but this Sunday is the best in my career. I broke into the TOP 100. Sofia will remain a special place for me. I hope to see you next year - said Bašić.

On his way to the final at the ATP 250 tournament in Sofia, besides Wawrinka, our tennis player defeated Alexander Lazov (495th ATP) from Bulgaria and Bosnian-Herzegovinian tennis player Tomislav Brkić (239th ATP) in the qualifiers, as well as Florian Mayer (72nd ATP) from Germany, Philipp Kohlschreiber (35th ATP) from Germany, and Maximilian Marterer (82nd ATP) also from Germany. He played against the Germans, as well as against Wawrinka, in the main draw of the tournament in Sofia.
