Baručija: We don't have to fail every test the pandemic brings

(Patria) - The Independent Bloc calls on the competent authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina at all levels to start preparations for vaccination and mobilize all capacities needed for vaccination against the Covid-19 virus. Although the Council of Ministers has failed in the procurement process and it is uncertain when the first vaccines will arrive in our country, it is necessary to do everything possible to be ready for the vaccination process when they are delivered.

The Independent Bloc warned the Council of Ministers and other authorities back in August to take all necessary steps in a timely manner so that Bosnia and Herzegovina would not be late with vaccine procurement when they become available, but the Council of Ministers has ignored the appeals in this case as well. That is why we are now in a situation where immunization has been underway in the world for two months, neighboring countries have been vaccinating their citizens since December, and the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are literally dying due to the incompetence and disinterest of the authorities they elected.

In order to mitigate the lag behind the rest of the world as much as possible, to save as many lives as possible, and to help our economy reduce the lag it will have from the start compared to the region and the world when the period of opening up comes, we call on the Council of Ministers and other authorities to mobilize and organize all capacities as soon as possible that can speed up the vaccination process, if and when they ever manage to procure vaccines.

"Experiences from other countries warn us how complex and demanding the vaccination process is. Many countries that have received vaccines have problems with poorly organized vaccination processes, and we must learn from their mistakes. We must think ahead and we don't have to fail every test that this pandemic puts before us," says Aida Baručija, a representative of the Independent Bloc in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
