"Banks and Financial Institutions": Situation in BiH No Different from the Region

The seventh regular annual expert meeting „Banks and Financial Institutions“ was held in Teslić. This year, the discussion focused on the topic „Banking Sector in BiH, Situation and Perspectives 2015 - 2020“, with the question of whether it is a matter of continuity or a new beginning, reports the Patria news agency.

The bankers' meeting aimed to discuss and summarize developments in banking, both from the aspect of continuity of the banking system and in light of modern trends in banking that open up opportunities for a new beginning, with the necessary cooperation between banks and the executive authorities. A special guest of this year's gathering was Ruben Atoyan, the IMF's permanent representative in BiH, who in his introductory speech highlighted the view of the situation and perspectives in BiH from Washington's perspective, assessing that the situation in our country does not differ from the situation in the region.

The attending representatives of all Bosnian-Herzegovinian banks were also addressed at the beginning of the meeting by Radomir Božić, Vice-Governor of the CBBH, then Josip Nevjestić, Director of the Deposit Insurance Agency of BiH, Slavica Injac, Director of the Banking Agency of the RS, Zlatko Barš, Director of the Banking Agency of the FBiH, Ivan Vlaho, Director of UniCredit Bank and member of the Management Board of the UBBiH, and Snežana Rudić, Assistant Minister of Finance of the RS.

Those present were also greeted, and the role of meeting moderators was taken over by Michael Müller, President of the UBBiH, and Mijo Mišić, Executive Secretary of the UBBiH. They also summarized the discussion and proposed conclusions.

In accordance with established practice, the Management Board unanimously elected Ivan Vlaho, Director of UniCredit Bank d.d. Mostar, as the new President of the Association of Banks of BiH. He will perform this duty during 2015.
