Woman from Banja Luka who drives a taxi in Austria found and returned money to one of Microsoft's executives

The mayor of Salzburg, Dr. Heinz Schaden, publicly congratulated a taxi driver of Bosnian-Herzegovinian origin after she returned a large amount of money she found in her taxi.

Đuja Tešanović-Bećirević, born in Banja Luka, found and returned around 20,000 euros in mid-June, which a customer had left in her taxi, and last Friday she also found the wallet of one of the leading executives of Microsoft, about which she also informed the owner.

„The mayor said that my gesture is great advertising for people from my country, and great advertising for the city,“ she told the Patria agency. Tešanović-Bećirević says that in both cases she could have kept the money for herself, and that no one would ever have known, but she did not want to do that.

In Salzburg, the famous cultural festival is underway, attended by guests from all over the world. Among them are high-ranking politicians from neighboring countries, as well as businessmen from around the world.

„There are about 1,000 taxi drivers in the city. When I reported to our dispatch that I had found the money and wanted to return it, they told me it was great advertising for our company, and because of that they gave me a special certificate of appreciation and a nice watch as a sign of gratitude for my actions. I am very happy about that,“ says Tešanović-Bećirević, whose experience was reported by numerous Austrian media outlets.

Tešanović-Bećirević has lived in Austria for almost three decades. She is very active. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Salzburg Chamber of Labour, and previously she was also politically engaged.
