Bandić soon to be free, Court accepts bail of 15 million kuna

Zdenko Posavec, investigative judge of the County Court in Zagreb, has released Milan Bandić to defend himself from freedom and accepted bail of 15 million kuna, although 22.5 million was offered, reports the BH news agency Patria.

The court also imposed a precautionary measure on Bandić, prohibiting him from performing his duties. This means Bandić will not return to work, i.e., he cannot perform mayoral duties as long as there are charges against him. USKOK has the right to appeal this decision, so Bandić will remain in Remetinec until the decision to release him from custody becomes final.

This is the largest bail ever accepted before Croatian courts. It is almost double the amount offered by the previous record holder, Ivo Sanader, whose friends pledged their properties to raise 12.5 million kuna.

We remind you that the mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, and eight other suspects from the Agram affair were brought to the Zagreb County Court in the afternoon, where investigative judge Zdenko Posavec again decided on pre-trial detention, or rather, on the offered bail amounts that he had previously approved for everyone except Bandić.

Last time, Bandić offered 5.8 million kuna.
