Bandić at DF rally: I am grateful for Komšić's support, let's make Novo Sarajevo a municipality of pleasant living

(Patria) - A Democratic Front rally was held at the Tershouse premises in Novo Sarajevo, attended by DF President Željko Komšić, and at the invitation of DF Novo Sarajevo, candidate for mayor of Novo Sarajevo municipality Muamer Bandić. This was an opportunity to once again present the DF list for the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council.

Muamer Bandić also addressed the attendees, expressing his satisfaction that the Democratic Front stands behind him as a candidate for mayor of Novo Sarajevo.

"I truly have very good cooperation with the DF representatives in the KS Assembly, and I intend to continue that cooperation in the Municipal Council as mayor, with the future DF councilors. It is very important to me that the Democratic Front stands behind this candidacy. DF is the only party that has so far shown that it is for basic human principles. This has been shown countless times by Mr. Željko Komšić in his appearances and in situations where he refused to give interviews to television stations that denied genocide. This was one of the most important principles known to law, he respected court rulings, and that is what I have been fighting for my entire life," said Bandić.

Speaking about his candidacy for mayor, he emphasized that he accepted it because the citizens were at a loss during the mandate of the previous mayor and the conflict he had with the Municipal Council.

"The parties of the 'trojka' made a political agreement in the previous mandate that received the citizens' trust in the previous elections. And then, at one point, after receiving the citizens' trust, they created a serious conflict among themselves over the budget. The mayor and the council had a conflict, and the citizens practically became hostages of that conflict.

The circumstances are that it is a bloc of three parties that are not ideologically connected, but are connected by certain interest groups, and it would simply be impossible to attempt any form of political action individually. For these reasons, I am glad that, in addition to SDA and SBiH, the most important part for me is that DF gives me support. Truly, without DF, we would not have the principle we are fighting for, that civic principle. I thank Mr. Komšić for agreeing to support me and I thank him for the invitation to attend tonight," said Bandić, whose address was met with applause from the attendees.

He stated that he will represent all the interests of the citizens of NS municipality, and that the program will be available to all citizens, based on priorities identified on the ground.

"We tried to identify all the problems citizens are facing. The municipality has been continuously dysfunctional, perhaps even since Mr. Komšić ended his term, so we have a large number of problems that the citizens of Novo Sarajevo are facing, and I hope that we will solve these problems together and make Novo Sarajevo municipality a municipality of pleasant living," concluded Bandić.
