Balijagić: Zekerijah Mujkanović is a political servant!

Faruk Balijagić, attorney of Mensur Peljto, reported to the Brčko District police today that he was prevented from inspecting the case file incriminating Mensur Peljto for war crimes, and the Basic Court of Brčko District confirmed the indictment against Redžep Salaj and Mensur Peljto on suspicion that they committed crimes in the area of the pre-war Brčko municipality in mid-1992, reports the Patria news agency.

- I received a call from prosecutor Radmilo Jovanović, a member of the Army of Republika Srpska from Foča during the aggression against BiH, but he is lounging somewhere on the Montenegrin coast, and the case has been privatized, so I could not reach him. Therefore, I called the police chief and duly reported that a police patrol should come and establish that Peljto's defense was prevented from exercising its right. They did not do so because the Brčko District Prosecutor's Office is their boss. I am forced to send a message to all embassies in BiH that this Prosecutor's Office has been privatized – says Balijagić for NAP.

He further added that he can assert that the indictment against Peljto is a political calculation.

- Mensur Peljto was indicted together with a man called Šok, who has no connection in time, space, or place of the alleged war crime. Political circles placed Peljto in that indictment, and without any doubt, Zekerijah Mujkanović (the chief prosecutor of Brčko District, editor's note) is indeed a great political servant, and not a man working in the interest of the rule of law and the constitution – Balijagić stated.
