Bakira Hasečić: Nobody invited me to the meeting with Angelina

The public in Bosnia and Herzegovina is occupied with the visit of the famous Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, accompanied by the head of British diplomacy William Hague, who came to Sarajevo to support the British government's initiative in the fight against rape and sexual violence.  

A large number of officials and guests are attending the conference on the topic "Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflicts - Empowering the Role of Security Forces in Peace Support Operations" which is being held at the House of the Armed Forces of BiH in Sarajevo, where Jolie also addressed the audience. 

In order to find out how victims of rape and torture during the aggression against BiH view this support and initiative, the Patria News Agency (NAP) contacted Bakira Hasečić, one of the victims of systematic rape and president of the Association "Women Victims of War". Namely, Bakira and her daughter were brutally raped by aggressor soldiers.

However, Hasečić told NAP that nobody invited her and that she only learned from the media that Jolie had arrived in Sarajevo.

- I have no comment, really. It doesn't concern me, I think. It concerns me greatly, but they didn't invite me and I wasn't informed. I have no comment – Hasečić said briefly.

Otherwise, 50,000 Bosniak women and girls were systematically raped during the genocide against Bosniaks from 1992 to 1996. Hasečić is one of the few victims who found the strength to speak publicly about her suffering and has been fighting for the rights of victims for years, which is why she was often subjected to attacks and media persecution even after the aggression.
