Bakir starts fulfilling his promise, 998 more people to be employed this month

"The ambition of our party is to create 1,000 jobs per month," said Bakir Izetbegović, Deputy President of the Party of Democratic Action, on September 1st at the SDA Convention.

He started fulfilling this "promise" as announced, immediately in October, by appointing Salko Selman (SDA) as the head of the Development Bank of FBiH, and Hermedin Zornić (SDA) as the director of Operator – Terminals FBiH. The calculation shows that he has 998 more people to employ to fulfill his monthly "promised quota".

However, it seems that this "promise" of 1,000 jobs per month does not apply to more than half a million unemployed people in this country, but exclusively to party cadres who will jump from one position to another, or immediately after finishing their studies, get a job based on party recommendations and connections.

The "promise" also does not apply to hundreds of workers who are being laid off from companies, and who have around 20 years of work experience. Because no one will hire people around 50 years old anywhere. The "promise" also does not apply to young people with diplomas in their pockets who do not belong to the category of the privileged.

According to data published by the Employment Agency of BiH for the month of September, there were a total of 547,937 people registered with employment bureaus and services in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Data from cantonal employment services, however, show a devastating statistic. Based on the number of registered individuals and those employed from the registry during September, the unemployment rate is still higher than the employment rate.

Thus, in ten cantons in FBiH, a total of 7,780 people were registered during September, and 6,908 were employed.

Incidentally, a constant increase in unemployment has been recorded since 2010, when in September there were 517,062 people registered with employment services. Of this number, 363,143 people are in FBiH, 142,625 in RS, and 11,294 in Brčko District.

Four years later, there are 391,856 unemployed people in FBiH, which is 28,713 more people than in 2010.

The situation in RS and BD is significantly better, with the number of unemployed in September 2010 compared to the same month in 2014 showing only a slight increase. In RS, there were 142,625 unemployed in 2010, and 143,955 this year, while in Brčko District in September 2010 there were 11,294, and this year 12,126 unemployed people.
