Bakir did not grow up in silk and velvet, but now he has villas and millions

None of the candidates (for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, editor's note) grew up in silk and velvet. That place was reserved for the children of communist officials, stated among others Bakir Izetbegović, deputy president of the SDA in an interview with "Oslobođenje". 

And it's true. He did not grow up in silk and velvet. But now he is thoroughly wrapped in silk and velvet. And he lives, as our people would say, "like a bey". Recently, he also stated that BiH citizens do not live badly at all, which clearly points to the fact that he has long lost touch with reality and the poverty ravaging the country. 

For the uninformed, who believe him (if there are still such people), the younger Izetbegović owns only half an apartment he shares with his wife and a used car. 

With a pathetic story about a difficult childhood and poverty, because he was the son of a political dissident, he tries to get closer to the common man, to win voters' votes for himself. 

Not only by portraying himself as a modest person, but also with messages delivered in this interview that the SDA will offer Alija's path, again "striking" the emotions of Bosniaks through the lyrics of the song "I would call light darkness if it weren't for Alija". 

One should not dispute the merits that the SDA, and especially certain of its cadres, had during the war and post-war period regarding Bosniaks and the state of BiH. The role and merit of Alija Izetbegović are enormous. But, if the Son has nothing new to offer this country and this people except what his father did and accomplished, and only adorns himself with his political successes, then it is better for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina that he withdraw from political life. 

In any case, every one of Bakir's public appearances shows that he is not up to the task, not only for the position of the first man of the SDA, which he has been coveting for years, but also for a statesman position. What he boasts about having done for Bosniaks during the past four-year term is better left unmentioned. 

Because all the aid from Turkey, whether through TIKA or credit lines (nicely indebting us to repay the money), does not come because Bakir is capable. He abundantly exploits the relations between BiH and Turkey, which were first built by Haris Silajdžić and then taken over by Alija Izetbegović. Bakir just continues to adorn himself with borrowed plumes and use his surname to the point of exhaustion, boasting about what his father did for Bosniaks and BiH. 

And if we are already talking about Bakir's merits and successes, then we must mention that these certainly include a villa in Poljine, an expensive Mercedes driven by his wife Sebija, shares, deposits, commissions..... and something that has never happened anywhere in any democratic state. 

That the wife of the president of the state, during his term, advances in her career (not on her own merits) and that he appoints her as the director of, no less than, a public health institution. Such a precedent has never occurred anywhere.
