Bakir Hadžiomerović: Bosniaks must work on their awareness!

Bakir Hadžiomerović, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, says that Bosniaks have no reason to fear for their destiny in Europe.

- We are no different from any other nation. But it is true that we need to work a little more on ourselves, on our awareness – said Hadžiomerović in an interview with the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been in a difficult economic and political situation in recent years. Stagnation in reforms has occurred especially in the last four years. Destructive winds for Bosnia and Herzegovina come from several sides, most notably from leading politicians in the Republika Srpska.

The difficult situation in the country worries Bosniaks the most, who are the most numerous in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Every blow to BiH, they experience with the most emotion.

- Bosniaks can help themselves by being self-aware and by trying in every possible way to do something useful both for ourselves and for the country we live in – says Hadžiomerović.

- It is necessary that the Bosniak mentality, which in recent years has become accustomed to seeking, now turns into a mentality that gives and works a lot – he adds.

The great world powers, says Hadžiomerović, also expect the people to wake up, and from political leaders they expect more creativity, ideas and programs. The best example of this, he recalls, is the recently held donor conference in Brussels, which should bear fruit only because the BiH authorities presented clear goals and needs to the world public.

- There are those who try to bring the whole story about the position of the Bosniak people into an atmosphere of fear. But we have nothing to fear. Every morning when we wake up we should say „today is the time to do something good for myself, for my neighbor, for my family“. That is Kennedy's „ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country“. The situation will certainly change – says Hadžiomerović.

He emphasizes that we should look at people from Bosnia and Herzegovina who have gone to work abroad. A large number of them have built great careers and businesses.

- It is clear that the people need great support from the state and politics. That is why politics in this country should start dealing with employment, justice, bring morality back into politics... When that happens, citizens will view the whole thing differently – says Hadžiomerović, writes NAP.
