Bayram Message from Reis-ul-Ulema Husein ef. Kavazović: Persist in Goodness and Do Not Lose Heart

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Today, Reis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, issued a Bayram message to the faithful on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan Bayram.

In the Bayram message of Reis-ul-Ulema Kavazović, it is stated:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Brothers and sisters, Today after the evening prayer we will witness the appearance of the crescent moon, which marks the end of the Ramadan fast. We joyfully welcome Ramadan Bayram, the happiest day in Muslim tradition.

Once again, we have shown ourselves that we can achieve any goal we set for ourselves when we master our weaknesses and are carried by the strength of faith. And truly free is only the person who overcomes their fears and weaknesses.

Behind us is a month of abstinence and sacrifice. A month that teaches us that without that sacrifice and abstinence, great goals cannot be achieved.

In the blessed days behind us, we sought God's mercy and His forgiveness. We strengthened our families, communities, and society. We showed solidarity with the poor and those in need of our help. We broke our fast in a brotherly or family atmosphere. Our mosques were illuminated by the presence of the faithful. This is proof of the living faith of our people.

We hope to translate the values of faith we have learned into our everyday lives.

Brothers and sisters,

Even after Ramadan, our path of spiritual elevation continues. The Lord of Ramadan is also the Lord of the other eleven months. May the traces of Ramadan worship be reflected in our lives, may they be recognized in the days ahead.

Be merciful and gentle.

Strengthen yourselves with faith in dear God and trust in people.

Persist in goodness and do not lose heart.

The second day of Ramadan Bayram in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Takvim of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is also observed as Martyrs' Day. It is a day in which we remember all those who, throughout the long history of the land of Bosnia, gave their lives for freedom. Our permanent obligation is to remember them and their families.

O Merciful God, we pray to You to make this homeland of ours safe, and all the countries of the world. To shower us with every good from the abundance of Your mercy and to be our protector and guide through life's trials.

To all Muslims, men and women, in our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and the diaspora, I wish happy and blessed Bayram days.

Let us spend them with family, relatives, friends, and neighbors.

May the Most High bring hope into all our hearts for His mercy and goodness in the world in which we live.
