Archbishop Vukšić's Bajram Greeting: Let us unite to extinguish the fire of hatred, violence and war and light the sweet candle of peace

(Patria) - The Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Metropolitan and Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mons. Tomo Vukšić, on the occasion of Ramadan Bajram, which Muslims celebrate on April 10, sent a congratulatory message to the Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović.

"On the occasion of the holiday of Ramadan Bajram, on my own behalf and on behalf of other Catholic believers, I greet you and all the faithful of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina with respect and joy, and I wish that the Merciful Lord pour out an abundance of His blessing upon you all.

For this festive occasion, and at a time when many of God's creatures cry out for peace, I add to my greeting, as a prayer, a thought from the message for Ramadan and Ramadan Bajram, sent by the Papal Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue on March 11, 2024, which states for Catholics and Muslims: 'We see the Almighty as the God of peace, the source of peace, who especially loves all those who dedicate their lives to the service of peace. Like many other things, peace is a gift from God, but it is also the fruit of human effort, especially in creating conditions for its establishment and preservation. (…) Dear Muslim brothers and sisters, let us unite to extinguish the fire of hatred, violence and war and light the sweet candle of peace, drawing from the sources of peace present in our rich human and religious traditions,'" said Archbishop Vukšić.

Archbishop Vukšić sent a congratulatory message of the same content to the Military Mufti Hadis ef. Pašalić, as well as to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Denis Bećirović, the Minister of Defense, Mr. Zukan Helez, and General Mirsad Ahmić.
