Bajram pushed sadness out of Željezo Polje

Bajram is a holiday of love and trust, so people whose houses were flooded or destroyed during the natural disaster that struck BiH in May must also believe in their better future, which will surely come for them, said to the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) Šerif Patković, the Federal Government's commissioner for the affected areas of Zenica and Žepče.

Željezo Polje is one of the settlements in central Bosnia where landslides caused millions in damage, as a large number of houses and other facilities were destroyed, road communication was destroyed, and thousands of people were displaced from their homes because their lives were endangered.

However, Patković says that the biggest Muslim holiday in this place passed with joy yesterday. Željezo Polje is a place of hardworking, honest, and sincere believers.

The majority of families have returned to their homes after the catastrophic landslides, and now authorities at all levels are doing everything to provide a roof over the heads of those families whose houses were completely destroyed by winter, and who are currently staying with friends or in collective centers.

In Željezo Polje yesterday, the Bajram customs of giving gifts to children and visiting friends and relatives were revived.

Adil Osmanović, the Federal Minister for Refugees and Displaced Persons, had previously given a guarantee that the ministry he heads would build ten houses for families who were left homeless during the summer. The Turkish municipality of Konya will also provide houses for twenty families who were left homeless due to landslides.

- There must be mutual trust. The authorities must understand the people who have lost their homes, they must understand that these people are scared, that they are afraid for their existence, but these people must also understand that nothing can be resolved overnight. They must trust the authorities to help them solve their problems, and the authorities must justify their trust through concrete help - says Patković.
