"The Fairy Tale an Idiot Tells" is a Story about the Situation in and Around BiH

The pret-premiere of the play “The Fairy Tale an Idiot Tells” will be performed tonight at 8:00 PM on the stage of the Chamber Theatre 55. The direction is by Emir Kapetanović, and the cast includes Zana Marjanović, Vanesa Glođo, Dragan Jovičić, Admir Šehović, and Moamer Kasumović.

Incidentally, the play is about lost identity. Director Emir Kapetanović says that identity crisis is one of the biggest consequences of events from Bosnia and Herzegovina's recent past, the biggest cause of stagnation in the present, and a major obstacle for the future.

- This play is a story about that. A story about a man who does not remember his identity and about inhuman people who impose it on him. The main character is a personification of Bosnia and Herzegovina, trying to start a better life, constantly hindered by claims from various sides. On the path to himself, he encounters various ideologies, delusions, and ideas, only to realize in the end that belonging for the sake of belonging cannot and will not lead to life fulfillment and social progress – says Kapetanović.

Given that the play is being performed on World Theatre Day, Kapetanović says:

- Theatre, and culture in general, must be a release valve for today's generations. They must be places and platforms that are like a safe house for all those who want to see and experience something more beautiful than the current situation they are in, but also to understand that this beauty is possible if we all want it enough together. And we all want it, whatever our names are and whoever we try to belong to – believes Kapetanović.
