Azra Zornić Reports Dragan Čović to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Regarding Non-Implementation of European Court of Human Rights Judgments

(Patria) - The Association of Independent Intellectuals Krug 99 held an extraordinary press conference where they confirmed that their member Azra Zornić, who is also an applicant before the European Court of Human Rights, has filed a criminal complaint against the President of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović.

President of ANI Krug 99 Adil Kulenović stated that they appealed to political structures and the international community to proceed with the implementation of the European Court of Human Rights judgments, as they would open a perspective for building a democratic and modern state of equal citizens.

„In seeking solutions on how to expedite this process, we realized that it is not enough to appeal and seek support,“ said Kulenović.

Azra Zornić stated that yesterday she submitted a criminal complaint to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against Dragan Čović, without revealing details or the criminal offense for which she reported him.

„It concerns the non-implementation, i.e., the failure to implement the human rights judgments in my case Zornić, as well as Sejdić and Finci. In 2005, I addressed the ECtHR, proving the discriminatory provisions of the BiH Constitution, and consequently the Election Law. I challenge the preamble which states that Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks, and Others live in BiH. All of us who do not wish to identify with these 'pens,' as I call them, fall into Others. Do we have any rights, or are we second-class citizens? We are all Bosnians and Herzegovinians, and any other designation is ethnic, and we have the right to it,“ said Zornić.

She added that the process itself lasted nine years, and in 2014, the Court in Strasbourg issued a final judgment.
„In political terms, this did not suit the ruling structures, which base their rule on ethnonationalist foundations and did everything to prevent the implementation of my judgment,“ said Zornić.

She emphasized that the Council of Ministers of BiH removed from its session agenda a point concerning the report of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of these judgments.

„I cannot speak about the details of the criminal complaint for procedural reasons, and as a legalist, I have full confidence in the judiciary and the prosecutor's office,“ said Zornić.
