AirAsia plane: Rescuers pull at least 40 bodies from the sea

At least 40 bodies from the AirAsia plane, which went missing on Sunday morning, have been found in the sea near the island of Borneo. Some parts of the aircraft have also been found, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

The bodies were found in the Java Sea, ten kilometres from the location where the last communication between the pilots and air traffic control was established, before the plane disappeared from radar.

While rescuers are pulling bodies from the sea, family members of the deceased passengers are at Surabaya airport. Panic prevails at the airport, people are in tears, and many faint upon learning they have lost their loved ones. Among the passengers on the plane was a two-year-old baby.

The Airbus A320-200 disappeared from radar on Sunday morning during a flight from Surabaya to Singapore. There were 162 passengers on board.

Thirty ships and 21 aircraft from South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and Indonesia are taking part in the search for bodies and aircraft parts, reports NAP.
