Avdović: Palmer cannot satisfy Čović because what he proposes is against EU and US standards

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Bosnian journalist with an American address, Erol Avdović, commented on Twitter on the ongoing discussions regarding the election legislation, stating that official Washington is not ready to admit a mistake. 

"Washington is not distancing itself from Palmer because it does not want to admit its mistake from the perspective of democracy and human rights. It is taking the Washington Agreement out of mothballs to reaffirm the Bosniak-Croat alliance, but at the expense of the 'third'? As if Others do not live in BiH. And civic Bosnia and Herzegovina? Are we for it or not? They calculated that even a discriminatory new election law might pass through a false promise that, like 'Dayton', this would be a 'temporary' agreement. Dayton brought peace in 1995. And this Palmer election law brings unrest to BiH. Even cooperative Bosnians cannot accept division," Palmer stated.  

He adds that there are no winners and losers in the entire process.

"It is best for Palmer's team to focus on adopting only the technical aspect for the transparency of the election process. And thus (to some extent) save face for themselves and others. Legitimate attempts are okay in politics. If, of course, someone's right to exist is not being destroyed. Those who say that one must not refuse the hand of a friend, which America is, must know that it is anti-American to accept anything that is against one's own interests. Flattery (not to mention interest trading), as bad as it can get, is accepting the electoral division of BiH just because it is or was promoted by one or even several American diplomats, who may have already given up. The election law as Palmer promoted it at Čović's urging is against the rulings from Strasbourg. Bosnians and Herzegovinians are not for division and discrimination," Avdović points out.

Palmer, as he says, is a lonely careerist in the State Department who is using Washington's preoccupation with Russia (Ukraine) and China to cover up his personal debacle regarding the election law in BiH.

"Now it is clear to him that he cannot satisfy the feudal demands of Čović and the HDZ because it is against the standards and democratic values of the USA and the EU," Avdović concluded.
