Avdović: This is not Dayton '95, let's see which domestic politicians are ready to act to the detriment of BiH

(Patria) - On Monday, the start of a new final round of negotiations on amendments to the Election Law of BiH is expected. Domestic politicians, specifically Dragan Čović and the parties gathered around the HNS, are announcing a new crisis if an agreement is not reached. 

Thus, the HNS came forward with its proposal, but it is already clear that positions have not been brought closer, and the proposal is deemed discriminatory.

The SDA did not wish to comment on the proposal, which they say has not been officially published. However, their position has not changed regarding the unblocking of the Federation, the abolition of ethnic prefixes, and the House of Peoples, which should exclusively decide on matters of vital national interest. Or, as Safet Softić previously stated – a compromise is necessary.

There are many unresolved issues, primarily the blockade of BiH institutions, but also the separatist policy of Milorad Dodik, who, in turn, announced a return to BiH institutions where he would be ready to support the Election Law, but, of course, exclusively as ultimatively demanded by his partner Čović.

Erol Avdović, a correspondent for several media outlets from New York, gave a brief observation on the entire situation this morning.

„Aside from the fact that the US and parts of the EU would push through a new election law to satisfy the HDZ BiH, let's see which domestic politicians are now ready for that 'compromise' to the detriment of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens? They can no longer justify it by American pressure; this is not Dayton 1995“, Avdović wrote.

We remind you that the SDA earlier called for a unified, concrete, and decisive political response from pro-Bosnian political forces.

"Such an approach is also needed in talks on reforming the BiH Constitution and electoral legislation, as well as a joint response to the dilemma of whether to discuss this topic at all until the work of state institutions is unblocked and the attack on the constitutional and legal order is stopped," the SDA stated on December 13 last year.

The circumstances that led to the breakdown of negotiations, in which Dragan Čović still has a maximalist approach and demands everything, with the wholehearted help of Dodik, remain the same. The blockade of BiH institutions continues, and Dodik does not budge an inch from his ideas of disempowering BiH institutions and returning competencies to the Republika Srpska. 

The HDZ and SNSD still have identical behavior in the entire situation, only the balance of power within the pro-Bosnian bloc is currently changing, which could be dangerous for the state of BiH!
