Avaz Twist Tower: World Cup in parachute jumping for the first time in July

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - From July 4 to 7, Sarajevo will host the first World Cup in BASE jumping – Sarajevo Air GameZ. Jumps from Avaz Twist Tower will, for the first time in the history of this sport, bring together the most successful jumpers from about twenty countries.

In order to bring this demanding sport closer to media representatives and the public of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Julian Deplidge and Lewis Jones, both from Great Britain, will perform two jumps from Avaz Twist Tower today at 6:00 PM.

Jumps from Avaz Twist Tower will be another in a series of world events that promote Sarajevo and complement its tourist offer. BASE parachute jumping originated in 1972, and the name BASE is an acronym that describes the places from which jumps can be performed: B (buildings), A (antennas), S (span – bridge/beam), and E (Earth – earth/cliff).

Julian Deplidge, founder of the Air GameZ competition in Great Britain, has so far made over 700 jumps in more than 30 countries worldwide, while Jones boasts 1,753 jumps in his career.
