Car theft rampant: 206 vehicles stolen in Sarajevo in the first three months of 2014

Car theft is rampant again in Sarajevo, writes the BiH news agency Patria. In just the first three months of 2014, 206 vehicles were reported stolen to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, which is about 20 percent more than in the same period last year.

Irfan Nefić, spokesperson for the MUP KS, confirmed for the Patria agency that 206 vehicles were stolen in the KS area in the first three months of this year, which is 58 vehicles more than in the first three months of last year. A total of 47 vehicles have been returned, while the others are being searched for, writes Patria.

According to Patria agency's findings, an increase in stolen vehicles was also recorded during the following months, especially during the FIFA World Cup, when several new vehicles were stolen in the Sarajevo area.

The MUP KS has so far filed criminal charges against ten individuals suspected of being involved in car theft, writes Patria.
