Austrian Minister visits BiH: No open issues between the two countries

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Members of the Presidency of BiH received the Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Karin Kneissl.

The Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Dragan Čović and member of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović welcomed Minister Kneissl and expressed their conviction that today's visit will further improve the traditionally good bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Austria. There are no open issues between the two countries, which represents a good basis for the development of overall political and economic relations, it was stated at the meeting. Satisfaction was expressed with the level of economic cooperation, supported by the fact that Austria is first in terms of investments in BiH.

Members of the Presidency of BiH informed Minister Kneissl about the current political situation in the country, with a special focus on Euro-Atlantic integration. They emphasized the commitment to continue the reform process, and the need to make additional efforts to intensify activities on fulfilling the conditions for submitting an application for candidate status for membership in the European Union. The interlocutors exchanged views on amendments to the Election Law, and expressed their commitment to intensify efforts to reach an agreement on these issues.

The visit of Federal Minister Kneissl to Bosnia and Herzegovina today, her first in the region, indicates that Austria attaches particular importance to the development of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation. In this regard, gratitude was expressed for Austria's support for the European integration process and strengthening ties with the European Union, as well as for the high positioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of Austria's foreign policy.
