ASA Medical to acquire Heart Center

(Patria) - The company ASA Medical d.o.o. Sarajevo, operating within the ASA Group, intends to take control of the business entity Private Health Institution – Special Hospital “Heart Center” Sarajevo.

The ASA Group is already present in the healthcare sector through ASA Hospital, the first private general hospital in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, several other private health institutions operate within the group, positioning ASA as an increasingly significant player in this sector, writes Biznisinfo.ba

With the announced acquisition, the group continues its expansion in the healthcare field and further strengthens its position in the market for specialized medical services.

On the other hand, the “Heart Center” Sarajevo was founded by the renowned cardiovascular surgeon Mirsad Kacila, and it is a specialized institution in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery.

The Competition Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina received the notification of this concentration on April 1, 2026, and the procedure relates to ASA Medical's acquisition of exclusive control and prevailing influence over this health institution.

As stated, the concentration in question relates to the market for specialized hospital health services in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery in the Federation of BiH.

The Competition Council has invited all interested business entities, as well as institutions and associations with relevant knowledge of this market, to submit their comments and opinions within seven days.

This procedure is a standard part of the concentration assessment process, which evaluates whether the planned acquisition may affect market competition.
