Arijana Memić: I am leaving the NIP Club, I will not allow anyone to toy with me and my family's struggle

(Patria) - Assemblywoman of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Arijana Memić said in an emotional address at today's session that she is leaving the Club of People and Justice, although she is not a member of any political party.

"I can leave the club, which I am doing right now. I am sorry that I had to end up in this situation, but I am leaving to let everyone know that I will not allow anyone to toy with me or with my family's struggle, because we have borne so much and so much burden. I will make available all my participation in committees. I don't need any of that. I had hoped that we could all do something better for the benefit of the citizens.

I will remain in the Assembly, but I will make my decisions independently and according to my conscience, as I have done so far. 14,000 people gave me their trust and I will not betray them. Those people voted for us to change things for the better; they did not give me support to sit at the same table with those who drink coffee with protectors of murderers, but to remove such people from responsible positions. I do not want to relax relations with the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, where dozens of prosecutors are ready to cover up a murder.

I will continue the fight with my family. We are moving forward, because we have proven that we are telling the truth. I hope that someday in the future we will have a better security situation in the Canton. As long as these people I mentioned work in such responsible positions, we can only hope for that," Memić said, among other things.

She added that she had warned and drawn attention to problems both to the minister and to colleagues within the club, but they turned a deaf ear and thought that she would "just swallow it."

She said that she is being asked to finish something "internally."

"From me, who has borne so much burden on her shoulders. Perhaps I was not clear enough before; I believed in goodwill and good intentions. In this canton, everything can be resolved thanks to connections and money. I would like all of you here, colleagues, the minister, and the commissioner, to say whether you feel safe in this canton. Do you not fear at night when your child goes out, whether and how they will return home," Memić said.
