Architectural and Civil Engineering Faculties Connected to the 'Toplane - Sarajevo' Boiler Plant System

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - By developing the Toplane heating system and constructing new facilities, KJKP "Toplane – Sarajevo" d.o.o. continues to contribute in the best possible way to protecting the human environment and reducing the pollution level in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In this context, as part of the implementation of projects to increase energy efficiency and carry out engineering work on connecting facilities to the central heating system, and following a previously conducted analysis of connection possibilities and the developed conceptual design, KJKP "Toplane - Sarajevo" d.o.o. connected the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Sarajevo to the existing boiler plant system "PARK" between 06.09.2021 and 01.12.2021.

After connecting to the central heating system on 01.12.2021, KJKP "Toplane – Sarajevo" d.o.o. will perform a hot trial on the heating system from 06.12.2021 as a technical check, in order to establish uninterrupted supply of thermal energy to the mentioned facilities at full capacity.

In the current phase of the project, a new heating pipeline with a route length of 200 meters has been built, and 400 meters of seamless steel pipe with a diameter of DN 150 has been laid in a reinforced concrete channel 200 meters long.

Through the implementation of the project, KJKP "Toplane - Sarajevo" d.o.o. will gain a new heated area of 19,582.16 m², with a capacity of approximately 2.0 MW, thus achieving more efficient utilization of the existing boiler plant system "PARK", and consequently, the existing boiler plant that supplied thermal energy to the aforementioned facilities has ceased operation.

The goal of the project is to reduce negative effects on air quality, rationalize energy consumption costs, save budget funds, and increase comfort for end-users. By shutting down one heating unit (boiler plant) and connecting to the existing boiler plant "PARK", it contributes to better air quality in Sarajevo.

The project was realized with funds from UNDP in the total value of approximately 224,500.00 thousand KM.

In the coming period, Toplane will continue its activities to encourage consumers to connect to the heating system so that our citizens have a more comfortable stay in their apartments and institutions where they work.
