Arapović: Law on Higher Education Improved by Adopting Important Amendments

Program Manager of CCI Adis Arapović said, as a guest on TV1's Dnevnik, that the Law on Higher Education in Sarajevo Canton adopted today is good and there is no reason not to support the adoption of such a law, reports Patria News Agency. 

- A few months ago, we were explicitly against the then version of the law because it encroached on the autonomy of the university, but that has since been changed. The composition of the Management Board has been changed, the majority on the Management Board consists of academic staff and students, with a smaller share of government representatives, treasury operations are being introduced, and I think once that is clarified, there is no reason not to support such a law - Adis Arapović told TV1.

Arapović added that the biggest reform in SC was voted on today.

- A major reform happened in Sarajevo Canton today, perhaps the biggest reform measure since Dayton. Namely, eight amendments to the Constitution of SC were adopted, which simultaneously create ground for the implementation of seventeen rulings of the Constitution of FBiH. Because of this, we concluded that it is worth supporting the efforts of the relevant ministry, the Government, and the Assembly to complete this reform package - Arapović said.

Arapović emphasized that only citizens benefited from the adoption of this law. 

Regarding the non-adoption of the Report on the Work of the Council of Ministers, Arapović stated that it is only an indicator that we currently do not have a parliamentary majority. 

- We clearly do not have a parliamentary majority because as soon as it fails to approve the report on its work, it is indirectly told to you that you no longer enjoy the trust of that parliamentary majority, meaning we have a minority government, and this is at a time when we must make very important decisions and implement reform laws - Arapović emphasized.
