Arapović apologizes once again

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives has concluded its investigation into a text published by Adis Arapović on Facebook concerning raped women, which caused considerable public unrest. 

Samira Begić, president of the Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives, stated that the committee has no grounds for proceedings against Arapović because it cannot punish him for verbal offense. 

However, Begić emphasized that the Ethics Committee, on behalf of the FBiH Parliament, distances itself from the text and the views expressed in it. 

Arapović then took the floor and stated that he is sorry to everyone he offended by sharing a text that has been circulating on the internet for a long time. 

“To all those who haven't, I invite you to read a short story by an unknown author and my comment after that post. You will see that my comment ends with a sincere apology to all who felt offended and a plea for forgiveness. Many believe that another apology is not necessary, as they perceive it as manipulation of truth and acceptance of hypocrisy.

Nevertheless, I offer my apology again, not only because the committee requested it, but to once again prove that this is a story about human flaws and virtues, a story about honor. I will repeat, no normal person would play with the victims of the war in our country, which tragically affected my family as well.
Most people who have read this story, which has been circulating online for weeks, have understood its figurative meaning.

It takes a lot of malice to understand, interpret, and try to politicize this story as it has been done here by a few people. We have long since overcome verbal offenses of totalitarian regimes. Attempting to punish someone for sharing someone else's story or sharing a tale, with much manipulation of people and facts, is unacceptable. And it is not honorable. What kind of punishment would be sought if something truly bad was said or done, or a criminal offense committed?

For example, within the premises of the Parliament. In the end, let this case help us reflect on the boundaries of manipulation and double standards, but also the boundaries of freedom, truth, and honor,” Arapović stated.
