Phone app a great help for Peace March participants

This year's participants of the Peace March have had a bilingual mobile app available since today, in Bosnian and English, which they can download from Google Play and the Apple Store for their Android and iOS devices.

The project to develop the "Peace March" app was funded by the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, aiming to provide technical support and assistance to all those who will participate in this way in the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide of Bosniaks in Srebrenica and its surroundings.

Muhamed Duraković, the project leader for the app development, explains: "Our goal was to enable the easiest possible movement of participants along the Nezuk-Potočari route and the Borak-Potočari route, as well as to provide a historical overview of the events from the 1992-95 period through the stories of survivors and judicially proven facts of the genocide."

Thousands of already registered participants from around the world will have access to relevant information about the March through this app, including a code of conduct, recommendations from medical teams, and information on how to best prepare for the three-day hike.
Participants will also be able to make direct phone contact with the organizer, security service, or medical assistance teams. The basic functionality of the app is navigation along the march route from the direction of Nezuk on one side and Žepa on the other towards the Potočari Memorial Center.

For participants who separate from the column, the app can help them safely reach the camp where overnight accommodation is organized.

In case of loss of GSM signal, this segment of the app can function smoothly even in so-called offline mode.
Given that the route includes difficult-to-pass mountainous terrain, thanks to this mobile app, the Peace March organizers will now be able to more quickly determine the location of those in need of medical assistance.
In addition to the above, the app also offers Peace March participants information about the Memorial Center and a virtual tour of the Srebrenica Genocide Web Museum 360.
