Appeal to Adhere to Established Measures and Refrain from Using Pyrotechnics

(Patria) - The Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton (MUPKS) is undertaking planned activities within its jurisdiction to ensure that the upcoming holidays in Sarajevo Canton pass in the best order and peace.

"The Police Administration has engaged a sufficient number of police officers to perform tasks and duties within its jurisdiction, as well as to provide assistance to competent inspection bodies, with a special focus on monitoring compliance with current epidemiological measures adopted by competent crisis headquarters," Fena was told by the MUP KS.

In this regard, the MUPKS calls on citizens and visitors of Sarajevo Canton to adhere to the adopted measures, among which it particularly emphasizes the mandatory use of protective masks, maintaining physical distance, a limited number of people in enclosed spaces, as well as restricted movement between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

At the same time, the Sarajevo Canton police will undertake measures of increased control of traffic participants, with an emphasis on controlling driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as controlling other violations, i.e., illegal behaviors that may constitute criminal offenses, or disturb public order and peace.

Regarding the potential procurement, sale, and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, the MUP KS reminds that such actions disturb public order and peace, disturb citizens, and that cases of injury, especially to younger persons, are not excluded.

They also remind that anyone who possesses, ignites, gives away, sells, buys, or offers firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in a public place without the approval of the competent authority commits a misdemeanor prescribed by the Law on Misdemeanors Against Public Order and Peace of Sarajevo Canton.

"In case of committing such misdemeanors, fines can be imposed on perpetrators in the amount of 300 to 900 KM, and for parents, adoptive parents, or guardians of minor offenders, from 400 to 1,200 KM," the MUP KS specifies.

In this context, they appeal to citizens to avoid buying and using firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, so as not to commit misdemeanors and to prevent potential injuries to persons, as well as other undesirable consequences.
