Surveyors to visit around 60,000 households

(Patria) - In seven days of surveying conducted as part of the project to update the statistical Master Sample Frame, 6,654 households were surveyed, of which 4,187 in the Federation of BiH, 1,739 in
the Republika Srpska and 728 in the Brčko District. The project to update the statistical sample frame is being carried out by statistical institutions in BiH, the Agency for Statistics of BiH, the Federal Institute for Statistics of FBiH and the Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics, with the ultimate goal of increasing the volume and quality of statistical data in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as their further harmonisation with EU standards.

"The updating of the sample frame will be done quarterly over three years. In the first quarter, which began on 17 September and will last 22 days, surveyors will visit around 60,000 households across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The collected data will show whether there have been changes on the ground in the number and structure of households compared to data from 2009, when the first Master Sample was created.

The new method of data collection in the field through a specially created software application installed on laptops enables surveyors to collect data more easily and quickly and submit it to statistical institutions on a daily basis. Due to the importance of this project, statistical institutions ask household heads for active cooperation in the implementation of this important survey and guarantee that, in accordance with laws on statistics and personal data protection, responses to the questions will be strictly confidential and respondents will remain completely anonymous, and that the collected data will be used exclusively for statistical purposes," stated the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
