Survey among eight largest banks in BiH: Increase in demand for loans from both companies and individuals expected

(Patria) - Results of the Survey on Bank Lending Activity in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first quarter, published by the Central Bank of BiH, show that banks expect an increase in demand from companies and individuals for loans in the second quarter of this year. A total of eight largest banks were surveyed in this round, and the response rate to the survey was one hundred percent.

Demand from companies for loans continued to grow in the first quarter of 2025. The net result from bank responses indicates that more banks reported an increase in demand for short-term than for long-term loans.

Based on the collected survey responses, banks expect that credit standards for approving loans to companies will ease in the second quarter of this year, as well as an increase in demand from companies for short-term and long-term loans and/or credit lines in the second quarter of this year.

Regarding loans to individuals, in the first quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter, there was an increase in demand from individuals for housing, as well as for consumer and non-purpose loans.

From the collected responses, it is evident that banks expect credit standards for approving housing loans to individuals to ease in the second quarter of this year. Banks have an optimistic outlook on demand from individuals for loans, so an increase in demand is expected in the second quarter of this year.
