Angelina Eichhorst Threatens with an Empty Rifle

(Patria) - "More and more often in Brussels, one hears talk that people are concerned about whether there is any chance for the country's survival. I said that such claims should not be made because I believe that is not the case, and I said – let us do our work," said Angelina Eichhorst, Director at the European External Action Service (EEAS), in Sarajevo on Monday, addressing her interlocutors at one of the meetings related to the "technical" amendments to the BiH Election Law.

During a recent session, Members of the European Parliament discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The majority of Members of the European Parliament clearly identified the separatist policy of Milorad Dodik and his attacks on the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the main problem.

A smaller group of MEPs mentioned the issue of the Election Law, only a few of them. The part of the MEPs who touched upon the amendments to the Election Law emphasized the need for limited changes to the Constitution and the Election Law, while the part of MEPs, mostly from HDZ Croatia or right-wing neo-fascist parties in the EU, placed the issue of the Election Law as a priority.

Not even the most radical ones, who represent a minority in the European Parliament and with whom HDZ MEP Željana Zovko is in close contact and cooperation, questioned the existence of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, although this is the favorite phrase of Željana Zovko, who, as is known, maintains close contacts precisely with Angelina Eichhorst.

It is very clear that when Angelina Eichhorst mentions that "more and more often in Brussels, one hears talk that people are concerned about whether there is any chance for the country's survival," it is nothing more than the talk of a complete minority in the European Union, and that it is not the stance of the majority in that same European Union.

However, Eichhorst clearly intends to present this as the prevailing opinion in the European Union in order to intimidate domestic political actors and force them into a rotten compromise when it comes to amending the BiH Election Law.

Eichhorst is threatening with an empty rifle, repeating Željana Zovko's theses, which have not intimidated anyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina. If the Director at the European External Action Service wanted to intimidate anyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina, she only achieved the opposite effect.

The extent to which such an approach is not only a violation of all diplomatic considerations, and how arrogant it actually is, could be discussed separately. What is a fact, however, is the following: Nothing will happen unless the pro-Bosnian side agrees to the ethnic division of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Election System.
