Andrej Pejić undergoes gender reassignment surgery

Australian model Andrej Pejić has undergone gender reassignment surgery and now presents as a woman, according to local media, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The model, who was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Tuzla, became popular after posing for Vogue Paris magazine in 2010, where he spoke about his journey to become a woman, which began when he was 13 years old.

Interestingly, Pejić was a frequent interviewee for both foreign and Bosnian and Herzegovinian media, presented as a successful young man. However, after Pejić's decision to change his gender, the question remains where the fashion that Pejić lives and promotes is heading.

Andrej has now adopted the female name Andreja, and has stated that his family supported his plans to become a woman since his high school days.

- I was happy with how I expressed my femininity all along, even into my teenage years, and the gender reassignment surgery was ultimately just the icing on the cake – Pejić told Style.com.

This Australian model took three months off to recover after the surgery, and upon his return to the public eye, he announced that he will be involved in assisting the lesbian and gay population, reports Patria.
