SARAJEVO, (Patria) - One of the most respected magazines in the world, the British The Economist, has published its democracy index for 167 countries worldwide.
According to The Economist's analysis, Bosnia and Herzegovina received a score of 4 out of 10 on the democracy list.
Practically, The Economist's analysis considers BiH to have a "hybrid regime".
Zero on the list signifies extreme autocracy, and 10 signifies democratic freedom.
The Economist ranked Croatia and Serbia in the "flawed democracy" category in 2017.
The analysis showed that BiH has regressed, as it was in the middle from 2006 to 2013. From 2014 to 2017, it moved one place back and is only one score away from an authoritarian regime.
In 2017, Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the same category as Turkey, Iraq, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Nepal, Mozambique, or Bolivia.
Australia, the USA, and Scandinavian countries received the best ratings, while Congo, Chad, the Central African Republic, Syria, and North Korea received the worst scores.
