Analysts: The idea of depoliticizing the BiH Presidency is indeed correct

Neven Kazazović, a political analyst from Sarajevo, stated in a statement to the BiH news agency Patria that the idea of depoliticizing the BiH Presidency is correct, but the question is how much in Bosnia and Herzegovina such an idea can be implemented.

When asked by Patria journalists how correct the idea of depoliticizing the BiH Presidency is, Kazazović said he was not sure how realistic it was to expect the idea of depoliticizing the Presidency to be implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but the idea itself is correct in any case.

Depoliticizing the BiH Presidency would mean adopting a practical and procedural mechanism that would prevent members of the Presidency, while in office, from being party leaders or party cadres.

In that case, members of the BiH Presidency would have an obligation to protect the constitutional order and the status of all constituent peoples and all citizens in BiH, regardless of their political affiliation.

The idea of depoliticizing the BiH Presidency was recently initiated by an independent candidate for a member of the BiH Presidency, Dr. Mustafa Cerić. He said he was launching an initiative for the depoliticization of the Presidency in order to restore the dignity, efficiency, and constitutional position of the BiH Presidency institution, and thus the state as a whole.

Dr. Cerić stated that most developed countries in Europe have a non-partisan position for their president or presidency, and that upon taking office, individuals voluntarily, for the benefit of the citizens, renounce their party positions and obligations in order to fully dedicate themselves to working for the benefit of all citizens, writes Patria.
