Amira Medunjanin in Austria's Linz on November 20, Vienna the Day After

Bosnian-Herzegovinian artist Amira Medunjanin will perform on November 20 at the culture and art evening “Sevdah on the Danube” held at the Cultural Centre of Upper Austria’s hall “Ursulinenhof” in the city centre of Linz, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

The following night, the artist and her team will spend time with sevdalinka lovers in Vienna.

Experts describe that a unique culture of diversity and coexistence has developed in Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout history, which, among other things, has created space for the most beautiful artistic expressions, making BiH, along with everything else, the cradle of the love song sevdalinka, which on one hand is filled with Bosnian-Herzegovinian motifs, and on the other is sung to Balkan, Oriental, Jewish, Roma, and even Austrian music. 

When observing the musical and literary-historical development of sevdalinka, it will be revealed that this song is also a meeting place for Austrian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian culture. It is therefore no wonder that Austrians love sevdalinka so much.

The organizer of the cultural event in Linz is the Austrian-Bosnian-Herzegovinian Cultural-Scientific Network Centre of Contemporary Initiatives Austria – CSI, while the association Futurebag ensured that sevdalinka lovers in Vienna also enjoy the voice of Amira Medunjanin, writes NAP.
