Amidžić: USAID invested $402 million in BiH, for $246 million we have no trace, for 54 projects there is no description

(Patria) - Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina Srđan Amidžić (SNSD) spoke today at a press conference in Sarajevo about the work of USAID in BiH.

"The new American administration announced that USAID invested $402 million in BiH. USAID has an obligation to report invested funds to the Ministry. So, USAID reported a little over $155 million, and for a little over $246 million we have no information on what it was spent on. Also, of these reported $155 million, for 54 projects there is no description of what the money was spent on. We have no way to trace this money. That is the job of some other institutions," said Amidžić.

He then cited a case from 2023.

"In 2023, USAID paid 1.9 million euros for electronic support for the 2024 Local Elections in BiH. When you go to the website of the Central Election Commission, you will see that scanners worth 500,000 euros were donated. Where is the difference of almost 1.5 million euros?" Amidžić wonders.

He claims that USAID invested significant money in the judiciary of BiH.

"USAID had an influence on the judiciary of BiH through various projects in the amount of at least 45 million KM. We have no description of what 15 million KM was spent on, and it concerns monitoring and objectivity of the judiciary's work. All these data raise suspicions of corruption," Amidžić emphasized.
