Amidžić on Viaduct debt payment: We cannot transfer money to the provided account as it is unclear who the payment is for

(Patria) - Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Srđan Amidžić stated today that representatives of the company "Viaduct", to whom BiH owes over 100 million marks based on a lost arbitration dispute, have submitted an account of a company operating in an offshore zone in the Channel Islands between France and Great Britain.

He added that the account has no connection to the individuals who appeared as plaintiffs in this dispute.

"I asked the Legal Counsel's Office if the money can be transferred to the account provided in the enforcement proposal, and I received a negative answer. We in the Ministry of Finance are not prepared to participate in this and to transfer money to individuals who have no connection to the individuals who filed the lawsuit," said Amidžić.

He does not dispute that the debt can be assigned or sold, but notes that the Ministry he heads has not been provided with any document to prove this.

"Wouldn't it be normal for this money to be paid into an account in a bank in BiH or Slovenia, so that it is known who it was paid to?" asked Amidžić, who called on the BiH Prosecutor's Office to investigate to whom the money should be paid, not why it has not yet been paid.

He also states that the ownership structure of the company to which the money should be paid is very complex.

Otherwise, the Channel Islands are a group of islands located in the English Channel, between the south coast of England and the north coast of France (Normandy). Although geographically closer to France, they politically and administratively belong to the British Crown, but are not part of the United Kingdom.

When asked to comment on the possibility of the High Representative Christian Schmidt imposing a decision to pay funds from the profit of the Central Bank, Amidžić said that it would be very interesting.
