US Treasury removes four of Dodik's associates from sanctions list

(Patria) - The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department has removed four associates of former RS President Milorad Dodik from its sanctions list.

Removed from the list are individuals linked to the organization of the unconstitutional "RS Day" on January 9, namely Jelena Pajić Baštinac, Danijel Dragičević, Goran Raković, and Dijana Milanković.

OFAC decision

The listed individuals were sanctioned at various times for their role in organizing the unconstitutional "RS Day" and violating the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The RS authorities signed a contract in December last year with the US law firm "Zell & Associates International Advocates" to lobby in the US for the lifting of sanctions on Milorad Dodik and Željka Cvijanović, promote dialogue between the RS and the administration of Donald Trump, and review the Dayton Agreement and the role of the High Representative in BiH.

According to a registration document seen by Radio Free Europe (RSE), the law firm will pursue these goals on US territory through communication with representatives of the executive and legislative branches, as well as the non-governmental sector.

Until now, RS contracts with lobbying and law firms in the US have mainly focused on investment promotion and legal advice, with these services costing several tens of thousands of dollars per month.

The US Treasury Department announced on January 17 this year that it had imposed sanctions on eight individuals who organized the celebration of the unconstitutional day of that entity.

For organizing the celebration of the unconstitutional "RS Day" following Dodik's instructions, sanctions were imposed on RS Interior Minister Siniša Karan, RS President's Chief of Staff Danijel Dragičević, RS Protocol Chief Goran Raković, RS Secretary General Dalibor Panić, RTRS Director Dijana Milanković, RS Constitutional Court President Džerard Selman, RS Academy of Sciences and Arts President Rajko Kuzmanović, and RS National Assembly President's Chief of Staff Goran Filipović.

OFAC then stated that the celebration of "RS Day" was contrary to previous decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, which consider the celebration of January 9 unconstitutional due to violation of BiH's constitutional obligation of non-discrimination.
