American citizens warned to watch out for demonstrations

The US Embassy in Sarajevo has issued a warning to US citizens to be vigilant, avoid mass gatherings, and that although recent demonstrations in BiH have been peaceful, they could become a scene of conflict and escalate into violence. The warning was published on the US Embassy website, regarding the organization of the Plenum at the Youth Center in Skenderija. The warning states that the gatherings are peaceful, but can be unpredictable.

- Be prepared to use alternative routes to your place of residence, as some roads may be blocked and traffic disrupted, especially on main roads near demonstrations. We remind US citizens that even demonstrations planned as peaceful can turn into violence – it is stated, among other things, in the warning. The Embassy advises its citizens to follow the situation through the media and be vigilant and do everything to increase personal safety.
