American deminers arrived in BiH

Three American experts for unexploded ordnance (UXO) arrived in Sarajevo yesterday and will stay in BiH for two to three weeks, confirmed the press service of the United States Embassy in BiH for the BH news agency Patria.

Namely, as Patria learns today and tomorrow, the experts will hold meetings with members of the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as representatives of the Demining Commission of the Council of Ministers of BiH and BH MAC. In the coming period, these experts will be made available to BiH institutions to help resolve the emerging problems with mines that have shifted due to floods.

We remind you that the decision on the arrival of UXO experts from the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs was announced by the State Department on Sunday, stating that 120,000 mines remain in these areas, posing a great danger to the population.

Since 1993, the US has invested more than 2.3 billion dollars in more than 90 countries around the world to reduce the harmful effects of explosive remnants of conventional weapons in post-conflict environments, including more than 96.7 million dollars in BiH, writes Patria.
