American bombers flew through Bosnian skies

(Patria) - Two B-1B Lancer bombers of the United States Air Force at 14:50 performed a low flyover above Sarajevo and other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a sign of the strong partnership between the United States and the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH).

As stated by the US Embassy, this is a sign of the US's lasting commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multi-ethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We are marking the enduring connection between the US and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The flyover demonstrates our commitment to building strong bilateral relations and is proof of our shared values and goals. Through cooperation and understanding, we are building a path towards a future of peace, security, and prosperity in the region," stated General James Hecker, a member of the US Air Force and commander of US Air Forces in Europe, Air Forces Africa, and NATO Allied Air Command, yesterday.

The aircraft will participate in a joint military event near Tuzla that will include the engagement of the Joint Tactical Air Control of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) and US Army Special Forces.

The B-1B bombers are stationed at the British RAF Fairford base as part of the latest cycle of the Bomber Task Force operation. Missions within this operation allow airmen to, as they emphasized, continuously conduct urgent operations around the world with the aim of maintaining global stability and security, enabling units to become familiar with operations in various regions.

The B-1B aircraft is a long-range heavy bomber that can carry the largest conventional payload of guided and unguided munitions of all aircraft in the Air Force. The multi-role B-1B is the backbone of US long-range strike forces. It is capable of employing large quantities of precision and non-precision ordnance against any enemy, anywhere in the world, anytime, in a short amount of time, the US Embassy announced.
