(Patria) - US Ambassador Michael Murphy, together with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Alexander Kasanof, was expected to hold a meeting today with representatives of parliamentary parties on the Southern Interconnection.
Representatives of most parliamentary parties in the House of Representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were invited to the meeting, except for the HDZ.
It is still unknown who among those invited confirmed their attendance, nor is it clear on what basis the American diplomats selected the guests.
The project to build the Southern Gas Interconnection has been on hold for some time, despite the fact that BiH urgently needs it to reduce its dependence on Russian gas.
This is also important to the US, which is why they have entered into an open verbal conflict with HDZ leader Dragan Čović. Čović demands that the company that will handle gas distribution be established in Herzegovina because he does not want "someone from Sarajevo to turn off the gas in Posušje."
The US Embassy in BiH reacted sharply to his exclusivity, stating that it benefits Russia.
